The NVC treatment for Amblyopia is provided now following clinical studies and FDA approval. The treatment was presented at the last College of Optometrists in Visual Development, and attracted many new Vision Experts. It is the only peer reviewed and FDA cleared method for this problem that inflicts 2% of our society.
Candidates: Persons not younger than 13 years of age and diagnosed with Anisometropic Amblyopia with a best corrected visual acuity in the effected eye of 20/30 to 20/100 or Strabismic Amblyopia with a deviation of not greater than 8 prism diopters or both.
Benefits: In clinical studies, patients who have been screened by their eye care providers and fit the above inclusion criteria have shown an improvement in their visual acuity (VA) by an average of 2.5 lines (1 to 5) measured on the testing chart. In addition their contrast sensitivity function (CSF) improved by a factor 2. NVC Vision Correction Treatment carries a money back guarantee. If after 15 treatment sessions it is determined that there will be no improvement, this money is refunded to the patient.
Description: A series of visual tasks is performed on a computer system. Each treatment session is then analyzed and the next session is compiled based on the patient’s performance in the previous session. NVC Vision Correction Treatment is carried out in the doctor’s office or in the home environment all that is necessary is the specified computer hardware, a darkened room and an internet connection. After every 5 treatment sessions the patient must visit their eye care provider for a visual acuity evaluation.
Duration: Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes with an average total of 30 sessions (performed 2 – 4 times per week) in the treatment course. Average time to complete the treatment is two and a half months. NVC Vision Correction Treatment is tailored to the individual patient’s progress and subsequently treatment length will vary on a patient by patient basis.
Comparison: Current treatments for Amblyopia applied almost solely in children include the centuries old standard treatment of patching and penalization (optically blurring or pharmaceutically). The main disadvantages are poor compliance, lack of comfort in bright light and drug sensitivity. NVC Vision Correction Treatment avoids the disadvantages of current therapies.
